MakeOS started the same way most maker tools do — as a collection of spreadsheets, sticky notes, and browser tabs that got out of hand. Running two independent brands meant keeping track of hundreds of products, dozens of custom orders, packaging for every SKU, and a never-ending list of "I should make that" ideas from Etsy research.

Nothing on the market was built for the way independent makers actually work. General e-commerce tools are built for retail. Project management tools are built for software teams. We needed something that understood the specific chaos of running a handmade product business — where you're the designer, the manufacturer, the warehouse, the customer service rep, and the marketing team all at once.

So we built it.

MakeOS is the operating system we wished existed. It's opinionated, it's focused, and it's built around the real workflows of people who make things with their hands and sell them online.
